De oorsprong en geboorteplaats van Shell Cordovan

The origin and birthplace of Shell Cordovan

The origins of Shell Cordovan horse leather date back to the Middle Ages, when the leather was used to make armor and other military equipment. (at that time theleather was not yet awarded as Shell Cordovan).

Cordoba - Spain
The official birthplace of Shell Cordovan horse leather is in the city of Cordoba in Spain. This is where leather was first produced and the leather was named after the city. The word "Shell" in the name refers to the way the leather is tanned, giving it a unique, shiny appearance similar to a turtle's shell.

Modern Production
Modern production of Shell Cordovan horse leather began in the United States in the 1900s. The leather was made from horses bred for their meat , and the leather was a byproduct of slaughter. The leather was then sent to a tannery where it was treated with a special tanning technique that gave the leather its characteristic properties.

Today, Shell Cordovan horse leather is produced in several countries around the world, including the United States, Italy and Japan.
